Mobilis invested in R & D to develop its own products, particularly on the level of the energy effectiveness.

Problems:
Several low powered mechanical systems use badly adapted types of transmissions and whose effectiveness is far from being optimal. Other mechanical systems do not have transmission at all. The principal applications are low power (e.g. electric scooter) and man power propelled vehicles (like bicycles and wheelchairs). The transmission can as well be use on wind mills.

Mobilis solution:
We developed a continuously variable transmission (CVT) for power up to 5 hp. Moreover, this transmission automatically shift ratio in a stepless motion by the means of torque and speed compensation.

Benefit:
The wheelchair users will be able to profit from this light transmission, the bike users will appreciate a stepless automatic shifting and the domestic wind mills could be more effective.

The integration of a CVT in a powered wheelchair or a PMV is without a doubt the next big technological improvement to come. It resolves the torque/range/speed equation in a way that no other device can, giving the manufacturers a much wider spectrum of possibilities in terms of commercial offer.
